For those of you following my confidence crisis I made a major breakthrough today!
I've ridden my friends cob twice since I last posted, but only for a little walk and trot about. The last time (sunday) was brief, but I felt happy enough to trot about and calmed down immensely in about 5 mins.
Sooooo, today I thought bugger it! and asked Mike to give me a bit of a lesson. That way I coulld concentrate on getting the horse to work properly, rather than spending all my time worrying about the 'what ifs'.
And I think it worked
To start with I was very nervous, and the horse was rather alert, and kept looking at things (prob my imagination!) but once I started trotting and working properly, i relaxed and forgot about it a bit.
My seat felt insecure and my feet were poking out which was annoying the hell out of me, but i couldn't help it because i was so tense. So thought 'bugger it' again and took my stirrups away. Yes, really! Voluntarily (sp?) as well!
However, as soon as i did, I relaxed loads, my lower back and shoulders eased off and for the first time since my accident, I actually felt capable of riding
I did a good bit of work, with Mike helping me out. I did leave it on a good note, and didn't push myself. But TBH I'd have quite happily pushed him into a canter, and the fact that I was relaxed enough to even consider it has made my day!
Thanks to all who've given me support and encouragment, you've helped so much.
Onwards and upwards! (Possibly with a little hack in the morning)
