Hi there, just to let you all know i rode my mums mare out for the first time in 2 years yesterday. I tried to find someone to come with me but no joy, so I bit the bullet and did it on my own. She was fine, if a little lively!! Can't ride today, but gonna go out tomorrow and Tuesday......she's gonna wonder whats hit her!!

Well done!! Riding out on your own is always a bit

especially if you haven't ridden her for a while. Although it's nice to be able to do what you want without 'helpful' advice from anyone else.

Well done, on friday I rode my horse out of the field for the first time in atleast 18 months.

I do find that with my confidence, it's best to keep riding little and often, until you begin to enjoy the experience rather than dread it.

Well done!! I too rode in our jumping field at the yard yesterday but lost my nerve at actually jumping (I lost my confidence approx 12 yrs ago when horse bolted with me and I fell off). I know Robs is safe but cant get over this horrible dread!! Some days I feel good and some I feel awful and can't do anything. Woman at yard helped me yesterday and actually made me feel better by telling me the time she lost her confidence and took a long time to build it back up. Little and often is now my phylosophy!! And always leave on a good note - very important.

Yes I agree with that, keep persevering and gradually increase the boundaries - it wont take long before you can look back and see some real progress
