He is 16.2hh ID X Cob Appaloosa aged 4 years.

I d love to hear your views. He moves amazingly, floats across the ground in trot and very fast acceleration in canter to gallop. He has very elevated paces in all gaits.

OK not great at these but will give it a go (feel free to ignore it all or correct me as its as much of an exercise for me as for you).

I think he's not standing straight as his shoulders are too far forwards over his legs. Nice short back but looks quite straight through the hocks and his bum looks a bit short (I've no idea if that is a conformation error or not, its just what I noticed). Quite thick through his throat and possibly his hind pasturns are a little upright. Very nice angle on the shoulder though :)

I would be interested to hear if I've actually identified these correctly or if I'm just talking out of my a$$ as haven't done confo critic since I was in PC (which was quite a long time ago)!!

He looks a lovely sort though.

I like the look of him, how is he getting on with the training? x
Being long reined ATM, had rider on last week and a little walk but got a bit uptight when asked for trot, so back to long reining which he is doing brilliant with. Figures of eight, serpentines, backing up, pole work. Very responsive to voice control which seems best for him. He is only into his 3rd week now so we are very pleased with his progress and his attitude, he is a smart fellow and a quick learner but he was very worried to start with possibly because he was so green coming over from Ireland pretty much as a feral horse.
He is really starting to put his trust in his trainer and assistants and I have been able to pick out all of his feet as if he was a nice mature horse. They are doing a fab job with him.

Hes funny , kinda ponyish but huge too! rider is about 5ft 6-7 I would say, ( from standing next to her) I am 5'8" so I hope we will look like a team when I m on him!

NB. I wonder if his back will lengthen with maturity, one of my ID x TB looked ever so short in the back until he was about 7.

Nice to hear hes going so well. Cant really comment on confo from those photos as really need a photo of him standing square. i would think he probably isnt anywhere near as over at the shoulder when stood up properly as he is in that first photo. Is this the guy you were having a little trouble with?
Have just started playing with mine too. Lunged for the 4th time tonight, 2nd time with a roller on and went really sweetly. I have to hold off lying across her until I move yards next weekend as have no help on this one (theres never anyone around). I hope to get her long reining this weekend though, and now she happily picks up all 4 feet shes ready for a trim too! Its exciting starting off your own youngsters! :)

Ooooh yes it is exciting, yours sounds to be at the stage where mine was a week ago. Yes its not ideal if you have no -one to help and potentially very dangerous. I am so glad I found someone with facilities and staff in my area, and he is doing really well. Will keep you updated, good luck.
