Not the best photos sorry, but I'd like to know what you all think of Ali's conformation

Please bare in mind that he's very difficult to keep weight on, and he has muscled up a lot since the photos from September were taken

His conformation being assessed during the Ridden Hunter class at a show in July. He was a bit underweight at this time, and lacked a lot of muscle.

In September, after I was schooling him in the indoor at a local equestrian centre.

Thanks Colleen and FinellaGlen

Rara - What do you mean? Do you think he's more underweight in the second and third photo? Here are two other photos that were taken at the same show as where the first photo was taken.

As you can see he was underweight in those photos.

In the first lot I would say he is lacking in muscle, but 'eventing' fit. His ribs are not atall visable.

Sorry, but in the most recent ones he looks to be lacking nearly as much muscle but with a big belly, so less fit.

Sorry, thats my opinion.

Ali always looks an ok weight, but as said is lacking in muscle and topline. He is nocely proportioned, but upright though the shoulder and his front legs are set back slightly, so he stands slightly over himself. His neck is set on well, and he looks to have well balanced pastern angle, and has a nice big bottom, which when built up with muscle will be a nice big engine

With a bit more working over his back correctly so he lifts his tummy and builds his topline, he would look a more balanced picture, and there is certainly nothing to dislike.

Thanks KatB, that's very helpful

Rara, here's another photo of him from October, it was taken just after I had gone round a novice hunter trial course with him, hence why he's quite a sweaty betty

At the moment Ali is VERY fit, even after a hard day's hunting he's still up for a good gallop around the fields!

In that one he looks better, but I still think he looks on the podgy side in the earlier one.

Once you have his topline sorted, then his weight should be easier to manage.
