i'd just like to know what everyone thinks of this. one of my homebreds. be honest, i don't care, i love her anyway!
she's playing with the bit, btw, and puts herself in that position very happily... i'm not practising rollkur!

Is this a youngster? I'm guessing it is. I don't see anything not to like about this horse and nothing jumps out. With a bit more muscle and balance it will be lovely.
 
yes... well, she's 6, but i've been waiting for her to grow big enough for me, so she's more like a 4 yr old. she's only hacked about gently. this is out of my old Advanced event Skyboy mare, by DiMaggio. She's the most naturally talented youngster i've ever sat on, learns at an unbelievable pace, and really wants to please.
Unfortunately, this is the one with "naturally weak tendons" so she's destined to do naff all for the rest of her days, basically. :'(
i try to critique mine all the time but i can't tell if i've got rose-tinteds on or not, so thankyou!
 
She looks like a really super type, might be a bit straight through the shoulder and the foreleg but as weezy says that might just be a moment in time.
Love her short coupledness, can just imagine her having an awesome cross country canter....
What a shame, are you sure she cant be bred from?
 
the trouble is, i waited so long for her, and you wouldn't breed from one which had broken down... and if you could see how bad her ultrasound scans are...! if she was put into a decent amount of work, the vet says she'd definitely break down.

it's gutting, because she's so well bred and so lovely, but that's horses... at least she's still in one piece, i guess.
 
I like her alot, but to me she's rather back at the knee (hence vet saying she'll break down)..
Can't you put her to something with better shapped front legs? and hope offsprings front legs take after dad.
 
No I certainly wouldn't consider breeding from her either. No reason you can't gently ride her around for many years though. She looks sweet; enjoy what she has to offer.

I think that kerelli knows what she is doing more than most people on here; she did qualify for Badminton after all!
 
Nice looking horse...shame about the tendons....I wouldn't breed from her either...because this disappointment is bad enough for you - imagine putting all that time and effort into another 4/5 years of breeding to have another with weak tendons.. noooo....
But you have others you can take further, don't you? Or I'll send you one of mine in a couple of years!

What a shame about her tendons as her body is lovely. Her forelegs do look pretty spindly and weak and she looks quite upright.

Shocked to hear people recommending breeding from a mare with naturally weak legs, she makes a beautiful picture I agree.
 
Because she looks so upright on the nr fore her front legs do not look a pair. The angle of her pasterns do not show a match which is not good, but could just be the way she is standing for this photo. She could do with building up a bit more behind. And you are correct in not wanting to breed from her with a known weakness.
