hi,

Just hoping a few of you could help me assess my mare? I bought her to compete SJ and, as i am interested in conformation, but awful at assessing it myself, thought you may be able to give me a hand?
Shes a 16.2hh 8yrs KWPN mare.
(and her feet are in pretty bad shape at the moment, farrier is due imminently)

Thanks everyone for reading
xoxo

Im not very good at this. I would just be worried about those extraa legs that seem to be growing from her belly!!!!!!!! There not even the same colour!!!!!!!!!
hahaha

Well i'm not usually great at these but would like to have a go an invite people to correct me. She is in fab condition and has a lovely kind eye. All i can see conformationally that might cause problems is that she is pretty over at the knee and has quite a steep front pastrn angle. She also looks a bit weak in the her second thigh (?) and her hind legs seem set a little far out behind her. Could just be the way she is stood though. Will see what everyone else has to say to see if i'm right :)

She looks a lovely girly though, with a very sweet face and nice topline.

Personally I don't think she looks over at the knee. I think it's the angle. Agree about the front pasterns though, quite an angle there, but I have seen worse.

She looks to have a very powerful front end which doesn't quite match the back end. I'm sure she'll build up. To my mind she has a rather upright shoulder which may account for the big front end. Also her neck looks kind of buried in her withers a bit.

Looks like she has a good attitude. Bet she's a lot of fun!

I agree with you...I looked and thought slightly over at the knee and about the pasterns...but didn't dare post in case I was shot down in flames:eek:

She looks lovely...I like her a lot......is she a 'springy' ride? Thats what sprung to mind.:)

i actually didnt notice her pasterns :O thought they were ok as last horse had VERY upright pasterns and hooves.
She isnt actually that springy, needs to work on using back end more. but she will jump a 1.30 track (allegedly) so her technique cant be that off!

I thought the pasterns looked upright but that might be in part due to the state of her feet.

I don't think she is over at the knee or that her hindlegs are set on too far back I think she just hasn't been stood up very well but I could be wrong. I'd like to see her halted a bit more squarely.

She looks like she might ride a bit on the forehand, but generally a nice picture.
