i've never tried to post a photo before so forgive me if this doesn't work!!
this is a horse I have tried once and will be trying again tomorrow - just interested in peoples views.. (i have my own opinions but i am no expert and much more interested in what other people think!)
fyi she is a 4yr old connie x TB

There is a very nice horse. I like her a lot and cant see too much that would put me off. possible a little pinched in behind the knee but it might just be shadowing. I really liker her, hope the visit goes well tomorrow.

Its hard to comment on her leg conformation, especially the back ones, but generally she looks a nice type -especially for a 4yr old.. The feet could use a bit of work though.

I totally agree and the owners admit that also. You can't see in the photo but both fronts are rather ridged and both have hairline cracks vertically... I also think the backs are little uneven in terms of gradient.
i think all that is solvable though...

yes agree feet could do with work but nothing a good farrier will not be able to deal with. How deep are the cracks and they top down of bottom up?

Sorry no good at the confo stuff, but curious as to what colour she is. Is she a bay, a dun or chocolate dun? she looks to be fairly chilled for a 4yr old to stand happily with her bridle on.

from memory (tomorrow i am taking photos to show my farrier!) the cracks are very fine. One of them stops half way up (so its bottom up) because their farrier has put a horizontal dent in to arrest it. The other is all the way up so difficult to say if top down or bottom up...
I've never seen it before so not really sure how major an issue it could be?

She is chocolate dun apparently! her mane is really cool, black underneath and light brown on top - proper chocolatey!!
yes she is very chilled for a 4yr old, probably a bit too laid back if i'm honest - but nothing a bit of time, schooling, fittening and food wouldn't fix. Would rather have her too chilled than the other way around!

Surely shes a dun

Very nice I like her a lot too.
Has a nice front on her, lovely head, all in proportion, no glaring conformation errors, can't see the hocks, but makes you want to see more.

Don't think she's a candidate for bare foot though :)

Lovely looking mare. As you said farrier required to sort feet, she's young so obviously will take time to develop and they can change dramatically when worked consistently and correctly . She's not fully matured yet so please don't listen to the harsh comments previously given ;) Cracking little mare, and most importnat to me a lovely kind eye :)

oh good, her mane is 'cool'. Now that is incredibly important-no mane, no horse! Why are you buying a 4 year old if your priority is a 'cool' coloured mane? How do you intend to school her etc?

erm... i didn't say her mane was my priority!? I was asking for a conformation critique because I didn't actually think it was that fantastic and wanted to have a few more opinions from experienced people.
I am not going to bother going into my experience, facilities, trainer, plans etc to justify myself and to debate whether I should buy a 4 year old because thats not the question that was asked.
and incidentally, i stand by the fact that her mane is awesome!
I do appreciate your comments on the long pasterns etc, I hadn't noticed that.

What 'harsh comments?' If a poster asks for a critique, that is waht they will get. Not everyone will see the same thing and not everyone will be willing to bottomlick. The truth is just what the individuial believes and sometimes it hurts to hear. If the op's dont want to hear then they shouldn't ask. Who gave you the right to reject the non favourable replies?

and I stand by my comments. At the end of the day, if you like her and you have no intention of doing 3 star events, go for it! Its more important that she is sound and what you want. Overall, she is nice but certainly (like most) not perfect. I admit, she has a 'cool' mane.

Because it was not helpful in the slightest!

Your first comment was justified, that i agree. But the comment about the mane being the OP's priority and that she shouldn't be buying a 4yr old was just nasty and uncalled for in my opinion.

chill out my dear, Its called 'irony'. It also goes by the name of 'tongue in cheek'. oofa! oh lordy, I am a nasty , nasty person. My 50 odd years of 'being' dont count for nothing-how sad.( I will probably regret this post).

Agree about the long pasterns, really like her eye - would be concerned if she was well muscled as a 4 year old so would not be expecting her to have done a lot. I wouldn't take her calmness as a given though as a fit and fed horse can be very different! Only thing about her feet - good idea to get your farrier to look at photos, but did you pick up her legs/fuss with them? just to check that the reason she has no back's on is because she is a baby and not because she is hard to shoe! and if you do go ahead, remember to ask for bloods in the vetting, (and tell the vendor that you will be doing that - its pretty standard nowadays anyway) - better safe than sorry.

Weak shoulder and back end, overly long pastern, and her knees don't look right (can't really tell from the picture) she has a very sloping croup and low set tail.
However, on the plus side the placement of her hind-legs looks to be correct in relation to the buttock, she has a good eye and a pretty head.

Also to anyone wishing to start learning more about conformation, the below pdf is good, and is regularly distributed to vets etc
