I'm not very good at this but trying to improve so I'll give it a go! Obviously lacking a little muscle but lovely condition. Maybe a tad upright in the pasterns and a little long in the back? Breedwise I would say maybe a TB x cob or TB x ID? Quite a strong looking bum!
Polo Pony? I worked with polo ponies and he is a typical stamp although perhaps a little heavy and he could be standing the yard I worked at!
His offside knee looks a little dodgy but thats probably how he is standing in the photo. Slightly weak in the shoulder and upright pasterns as said above - but generally a very nice stamp of a horse
Nice sort, very smart... TBx out of a hunter or pony mare?
good neck, tho in need of a bit of top line, and slightly thick through the throat could make working in an outline difficult.
Can't decide if she (?) is a fraction over at the knee or if it's just how she's stood. Good forearm, and nice short canon bones.
the farrier's done a good job of keeping the shoulder and pastern parallel, and the knee is nice and flat.
A little high withered for my taste, but it's not ridiculous. Slightly wither high. Good shoulder. Nice length of back, suitably compact, but not too short. Good depth of girth.
Good quarters, tho lacking in some muscle IMO. Same goes for the gaskin (second thigh). I'd like to put the horse up some big hills on a regular basis and see how she changes.
I'd also think the pastern on the hind legs is a fraction (but only a fraction) long, but shouldn't cause a problem if well shod. tail is set on a fraction low too, not that that matters
The face tells me that the horse has a stubborn streak... a slightly small eye set on the side a bit, coupled with an average size cheek, and a broad nose through where the noseband sits. This is matched with a narrow nostril and shortish mouth and flat chin, just emphasises that to me. On the otherhand, the squareish muzzle shape, and slightly long narrow ears suggests a flighty/spookiness. It may be that the horse is nervous and seeks reassurance, and rather than running will "grow roots" due to the 'stubborn streak'

No idea of breed though!

are polo ponies not usually a certain breed or does anything go?
id say tb or tbx
& il give confo a go: quite upright pasterns, over at the knee, & weak topline. But has good powerful hindquarters & nice sloping shoulder (albeit a little weak), deep girth for large ribcage & overall in proportion.
Nice looking horse tho!
ravenwood has the eye!! from what i know its an argentine tb.. an polo pony.
does anyone know about their breeding? from what i can gather she is likely to have some criollo blood?
i have a limited budget and am looking for something to aim at RC and possibly intro/PN.... she's 8, has been out doing unaff sj and going clear in ht's. had a season hunting. its the flatwork that needs a lot of work...
Polo ponies are very versatile and usually seem to turn their hand to anything. Most of the ones I worked with turned into hunters for the winter and lots doubled up as pony club ponies for the owners children. Good luck with her.
Regards the breeding in Argentina - its a very mixed bag!
Was going to say looks like my husband's Argentine polo pony but someone has beaten me to it. Could be a little tied in behind the knee but I'm a big fan of ex-polo ponies.
