There’s a rather lengthy debate going on in the BD forum at the moment and its got me thinking/worrying about my eligibility.

I’ve spoken to BD and they’ve reassured me I’m okay but from what’s being said – I’m not.
Can anyone answer the below points;

  • I have qualified for the PetPlan Festival Championships (at Hartpury in April) at Prelim level. I am also entered into the regional championship at Prelim which is being held next week – if I don’t qualify through the regionals, am I still eligible to compete at the PetPlan championships at Prelim in April? From my understanding I only lost my eligibility when I qualified through the Regionals.
  • As I’m going to the Winter Regionals at Prelim, does this mean I can’t now do Summer Regionals at Prelim even if I don’t qualify for Winters? (Rule 110.b.iv. ‘The same horse may not compete at the same level at any Regional Championship in any one season.’)
  • I am wanting to do PetPlan 2014 Area Festivals at Novice Restricted and Summer Regional Champs at Prelim (providing I do not come in top 10 at Winters IF we qualify) can we do this?
Any help really appreciated. I’m hearing so many different things even between different BD admin staff and judges.
Thanks in advance.

I can't help with an answer but as a newcomer to BD, I find the different qualifications, finals etc incredibly complicated and I work with association rule books as part of my job.

Good luck with getting a consistent answer.

I have found BD very good at replying to questions I have had about registration so I would go with what they have told you.

Pointless addition to answer but saw you at Burrows Court before Christmas but didn't speak!

I'm no expert so you're probably best to get clarification from BD.

Point 1 is fine - I have queried this with BD as I am doing the same.

Point 2 - I read this to mean a season rather than year i.e horse can only compete once at winter regionals at prelim, and once at summer regionals at prelim - it cannot do say two winters and two summers at the same level.

Point 3 is ok too. You couldn't do novice regionals and PetPlan in the same year.

I did both regionals at prelim last year and novice pet plan restricted so you are fine for them.
You can do winter regionals but if you qualify for finals you cant do both at the champs.

I too have qualified for PetPlan champs at Prelim, but just been to Regionals and I'm hoping there is a chance I might get a wildcard from my Novice FSM class. Would this mean I then can't do the Petplan Champs Prelim class, or could I even decline the wildcard for the Novice FSM?

From what I can see you are fine so long as you dont Q for Nationals at Prelim from regionals - then you would not be able to do both classes at Nationals.

No they count as different "seasons" as you Q for Hartpury last year and regionals are this year. The only problem will come if you Q for Nationals from Regionals - you couldnt do this and Petplan final.

No - it's different seasons - Winter & Summer

AF always has to be at least level above what you do at regionals - so you are fine :)

If you qualify for Nationals at Novice music then you can't do.petplan finals at prelim and I'm pretty sure you can't turn down a wildcard.

We've qualified for Nov Rest Petplans but are still doing regionals at prelim and novive. Seriously doubt we're good enough to qualify for Nationals but if we are then I don't mind missing Petplans even though we wont do as well at Nationals as I'd just love to say I'd competed at the Nationals.

Might be useul to know that you cant compete at a Petplan Area festival at the same level as you have copeted in a regional in that year. So if you go to regionals say this summer at prelim you cant then do prelim petplans in the same year.
