I am currently with Tesco on a plan that gives me £2500 a year vets fees for whatever I need them for. I am thinking though, that with the cost of things going up perhaps I need a bit more cover!
Are there any companies that offer a whole of life plan with more towards vets bills? I had a good quote from Direct Line but they only paid £6000 per condition, which perhaps isn't so great if he may need medication for life further down the line (diabetes, arthritis etc.)? I also want the extras like theft and straying, emergency boarding fees if I end up in hospital, holiday cancellation etc.
Currently paying about £16 pcm, I don't want to pay any more as I think this is enough for a mongrel dog who cost me £30!

So does anyone have any ideas?

I've just had to renew mine and Direct Line's was both the cheapest and the best by far that I found (although I had to cancel the old policy and take out a new one to get the 12 months for the price of 9 discount, they don't offer that to existing customers ). I have the premium rather than the essential cover which includes all those extras, at £13 a month.

Several others I tried (More Than, Petplan, Admiral) ask for 10% of the cost of treatment as well as an £80 excess which I thought was bonkers, particularly as they were more towards the £20pm mark!

It's definitely per condition, just one has a 12 month limit, the other doesn't.

dont go for the 12 mth limit as you wont beable to claim again for that condidtion once the years out
i think i got that right
lifelong means you can claim per condition for same injury/treatment upto the amount each year

I am with the NFU and have claimed up to £4000 per condition each year for life. My dog Jack has arthritis of his elbow diagnosed in March 08 and they have paid out for all his drugs, Xrays , Bloods (Done every six months), MRI scan , treatment at a specialized rehab center (For hydrotherapy, Laser and treadmill) they also pay my travel (Fuel) to and from the center (It is 16 .5 miles each way) They will also pay up to £200 a year for specialized food.

Jack has recently (One month ago) been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and I have just put a claim in for that as It will be a life time thing.

I can not speak more highly about the NFU they have been superb with my claims.
