I really need to look into insuring Storm now as we are starting to go out and do a few little local comps etc, I’m looking to over the winter do some dressage, sj, combined training, clinics etc and I’m contemplating taking her hunting but I know that will rocket the insurance quote!!

Any suggestions would be great!!

Thank S x

If you search the forum you'll find loads of threads on this topic.

The consensus seems to be that E&L are not good. Then you just get personal views. If you call around and get a few quotes, see who has the best deal for what you want to do. Try firms like KBIS, SEIB, Pet Plan, NFU.

We're with KBIS and to keep the cost down we don't insure for hunting, however each time we do go, we have to tell them and pay a £10 premium, so if its only a few outings a year it works out much cheaper! Obviously depends on how regularly you do it though.

I looked at quotes last night and found E&L and Seib the most reasonable for prices.

I'll be going with Seib based on their reviews though.

AmTrusts are good and from personal experience they do pay out.
They do a competition horse cover which is very reasonable but I've never hunted so not sure how they are on that front. Worth getting a quote.

Try contacting Julie Andrew Horse Insurance Services, very helpful, quick and hassle free, they will do all the work and find a well suited plan at competative rates with a decent horse insurer (they don't deal with E&L neither).
