Confused over insurance!

I've just agreed to exercise a friends horse and will be paying a contribution to his upkeep, I wanted to get rider only insurance, but ive just read that i won't be covered if i am paying to ride the horse and i should be added onto the owners insurance. Is this true??? If anyone knows that'd be great as i'd like my own incase i take on any other horses....

Honestly not sure, but I used to have a girl jump my horse, I added her to my own horse policy and it didn't cost me anything extra, can you not speak to the owner and discuss this option??

I think that's what i'll do, at least we both know where we stand then. Just looking foward to getting back to horses again and making everythings in order, thanks for that.
