Ive had mixed advise on feeding these two oils. Really only want to use them in winter to maintain good coat condition and weight and keep everything moving nicely inside. I wont be feeding tones of it, just as a little top up.

Im not sure what the difference is, anyone know?

What is sold in supermarkets as 'vegetable oil' is usually rapeseed oil - but check the label to be sure. Rapeseed oil has a better ratio of Omega 3s to Omega 6s than sunflower oil, but not a good a ratio as linseed oil. Both vegetable oil and sunflower oil contain the same amount of calories.

Thanks. Pro's and cons to both then!

Re: cider vinegar, i once heard (old wives tale) that it can help increase appetite????

Its a new one to me if it does ive been feeding it for nearly 10yrs and never had this problem. My boy is in his late teens he gets it every winter his coat always has a shine and he's never had problems with authoritis or joints still moves like a 10yr old. But you can only go with which you feel best, like you say pro's and cons this goes for just about anything and what works for one doesnt always work for another.

Wiggys_88 I get a litre container from our local feed store lasts bout 1 1/2-2months cost round £12. If you ask your local supplier they should be able to order it in for you.

Vegetable oil is good for condition, I read that a while back when looking into if there is anything to keep weight on a poor do-er.

I gave my lad some in his morning and evening feed and it seemed to work. As well as that, he of course shimmered like a goldfish :)

It will probably on each individual and if you research as i did on google, you see both good and bad about vegetable oil. But personally, i would recommend it :)

if you really want to keep condition would recommend soya or linseed oil i use linseed as they get a really lovely shiny coat although if they are really struggling then give them soya

If you want the oils for coat shine then Linseed is ideal. Buy the Linseed whole and grind up in a coffee grinder fresh daily - you will get all the goodness of the oils and the Omega oils for joint health as well. 1 cup daily for a horse.
