Were having a problem with our 15.1hh 7y/o barefoot Highland Pony and, to be honest, it's driving us mad. He had bad laminitis 3 years ago, was treated for ulcers in August '17 and seemed to be doing well until about four weeks ago, where he suddenly became lame in his hind end and it appeared that the ulcers had returned along with heightened digital pulses. He was treated as a laminitis case and was put on box rest for a week with Sedalin Gel. A week on, he had all four feet x-rayed and they all came out perfect, and he seemed to be coming on well.
Over the past week however, he's been hobbling out of his stable, with the first few steps from his rubber mats onto concrete looking very uncomfortable, with him being particularly bad tonight. Strangely, as we keep walking him, the pain seems to go away and he starts to walk normally after about five minutes, so we're totally bamboozled. He doesn't appear to have any bruising on his soles or any other signs of anything being particularly wrong, but again has heightened digital pulses.
Have any of you experienced anything like this? We're obviously thinking of getting the vet out (AGAIN!!) but it would be nice to hear some opinions on here.
