I got my horse microchipped recently and vet gave me a barcode with him number on and said now all you need to do is call ur passport issuer and they will update everything. So I called them and they said I needed to send a photo copy of page the barcode is on passport and they would update their register. Impression I got was that they would up date their records but she didn't mention contacting anyone else.

Is there a national database/company that keeps all the microchip number? I know when i had my dog done they said if he was found they could ring up a number and they had all the dogs details on, is it the same for horses and if so who is it? The only reason i got him done was cos I thought there was.

National Equine Database. The Passport Issuing Agency should update your microchip details with them, although it may take a while. I just associated myself with my horse and added it - its quicker.
