Congratulations to Martin Clunes New BHS President!

Excuse my ignorance but what does the post actually involve? If he's a figurehead great...if he needs to actually know much about horses, he could be a bit lacking? Nice guy and all that but I'm not sure I want him pronouncing "edicts"...?!
 
He was announced as president last year, wasn't he? He presented one of our horses with the Supreme at RIHS in 2010 as President. Or at least I thought that was what they said!!! Maybe he was president of something else?

Just checked out google - he was announced President Designate in May 2010 - so I was not having premonitions .... !

Maybe, lets hope he'll be a role model for behaving badly on horse back, I'll bet he does a lot of pub rides. :D

Dunno about the 'edicts' part but both his wife and daughter ride and own horses, I'm pretty sure he owns a riding horse too (a big cob from what I've heard) and he's just bought two purebred clydesdale colts, from up with is way, to show so he's pretty horsey.
 
I think its really good. He is a well-known person but is very "ordinary" in the horseworld which reflects the majority of UK riders.
