to the TWO people who have bothered to register on www.easyfundraising.org.uk/operationesther
I'm sorry to sound off but I find it very hard to believe that so many people would bother to read the post, follow the link and not sign up!!!!
It costs you nothing, all you have to do is remember to go through the site when shopping online.
Has anyone really got a good reason NOT to sign up??
All monies raised will go to ILPH and REDWINGS.
I am happy to answer all queries.
Come on people...

well I personally didnt register because I thought it looked a bit insecure! open to abuse. do you really think basically telling people off for not registering is going to get your way!!?

i already donate big time to ILPH, who are also to be benefactors in my will...

How did the site look 'insecure' it is a totally embedded site. All you do is follow the link to the site you want to shop at and when the transaction is complete, the company make a donation to the chosen charity.
As the account holder-I have NO way of seeing your contact details, I cant even tell you who joined, how much they spend ect. All that happens is once every three months if more than £15 has been raised the site sends a chq to the named charity. Its all to do with companies being allowed tax breaks if they donate to a charity.

I don't shop online, am not trusted with a card

Excuse me but if you've made the point it would be good to sign up to, people do not appreciate being nagged.... its up to individuals what they do.... Making anyone who hasn't signed up out to be a bad person/lazy/thoughtless is not particularly good...
(ps I dont shop much online so not signing up atm!)

JM this is not actually a donation that you make. Companies are allowed tax breaks when they donate to a charity. If you for example..go to the site follow the ebay link and then bid on something OE gets 5p from Ebay. My OH joined the RAC via the site and a donation of £10 was put in the account. I signed up for the whiskas kitten pack and got 75p into the account.
Its a way that big faceless corps can feel a bit better about themselves

jess..it came up on mine and said it was a verified security enabled site? I have used it for nearly 3 years and never had a problem. It didnt ask for any credit card details did it???
All it should ask for is an email addy and what charity you wish to support! Not sure about that. Let me cotact them.

I just think a site that will be able to tell whether I have made a transaction on ebay etc just knows a little too much for my liking and not having a padlock sign alongside this would worry me

http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/privacy/
Not sure if that bit helps. If it asks for anything more than email addy, password and the chosen charity then please do not complete the form!!
email addy
password
charity
those are the only things it should ask for.
As for the security, this is due to the fact that you are not actually buying anything from this site. You buy it from the site you jump to after going through this one. Its all down to the 'cookies' that the other site knows you came via easyfundraising and then they have to make the donation.
