seeing as i cant find another thread saying so, congratulations to Kevin Staut on winning the European Championship at Windsor today on his grandparents horse Kraque Boom. I was sorry Oki Doki had one down but Kevin jumped two outstanding rounds today, well done to him.
and for those of you who dont know who he is (though he has jumped here a few times in the last year) here

I enjoyed it too - also enjoyed Laura (?) on the chestnut horse doing dressage to music by The Shadows & the overall winner on the black horse - fantastic riding & I'm not a fan of dressage ( as you can tell by my not knowing the rider /horse names ! )

I really enjoyed watching the showjumping today.

Sure, there were some disappointments in terms of those I was rooting for

But those in the medals did some beautiful rounds and were thoroughly deserving

It was good to see a lack of ' rough riding ' which has put me off showjumping recently .

Robin Hood looked lacklustre - wonder if he needs a blood test or a rest ?

Carl Hester looked gorgeous ( yes , I know he bats for the other side side , but there's no harm in looking

)

L - I think he rode an amazing round and deserved his win. However, I cannot get my head round a French man called Kevin.........non, c'est ne pas vrai!!!

I was thinking exactly the same thing - Kevin doesn't exactly sound French ! He rode well though & was pleased for him to win .

What an amazing week of show jumping it has been

I was so, so gutted that Cameron just missed out on a medal though - Livello is one to watch, I think - and it is so nice that Cam has finally hit the big time again. I think everyone had pretty much forgotten him, or written him off as a one-hit wonder - he's proved the doubters wrong now!

Was very sad to see Oki Doki have the first fence, but at the end of the day, Kevin Staut did the best job on the day so hats off to him

truly, there are lots!

i suppose it is because there isnt a french equivalent like jaques instsead od jack or john! anyway, much as it would be nice to make the claim, i dont think there is any essex boy blood in there....

Well done to Cameron Hanley too, who is a seriously classy rider (and a lovely person

). One to watch!

This is going to seem like an obsession but I truly adore this guy

I practically stalked him at Hickstead back in 2000, I have always loved watching him ride, and he always seems such a nice person

Such a shame he's not had the horses over the past few years, but wonderful he's now back at the top- where he belongs

Kevin was the number 1 name for newborn males in France a couple of years ago...it's more popular than you might think

I read somewhere that the French have to name their children after Saints . ( Don't know if this is still the case . )

I looked in my names book & there is a Saint Kevin ( Irish , 6th century ). Think how much ' better' for want of a better word , Kevin would sound in a French accent !

I'm an Essex girl too

The french pronunciation is more along the lines of 'Keveen'.

How do i know this you ask.....well sharing the given name and working for a French company of course
