His eyes look puffy, like he is tired. A little bit of clear discharge from one eye. They have been like this for a couple days. Do you think this conjunctivitis?
I would get the vet to give an opinion. I don't like to mess about with eyes.
Okay thank you, I'll ring tomorrow. Unless you think I should ring this evening?
BB got a fly in his eye that cause conjunctivitis and I put goldeneye ointment from the pharmacy in it, 4 days and it was right as rain.
I would ring and ask to speak to a vet tonight. They may well say it can wait until tomorrow for a visit, or they might be able to put some medication out for you to collect. I certainly wouldn't be diagnosing myself and putting otc meds into eyes.
I sent my vet a photograph and she told me to bathe it , so I bathed it with cooled boiled salt water twice a day and put the ointment in as per her advice They dont all want to rip us off lolGreat thank you hopefully something easily treated.

Thank you that's very helpful. ? yes I've got a good vet aswell she wouldn't rip me off Either!
As long as the eye itself is not cloudy it's probably just the effect of flies I would bath with cool water and cotton wool, I find after doing it a few times through the day they look better.
I find if the horse won't let you wipe them and the eye has a cloudy appearance it's something serious so I would get a vet, one of mine scratched the cornea and I knew straight away it was not just fly eye, it was so puffy and he wouldn't let me near it so it was a vet job
Eyes should always be treated like an emergency. A conjunctivitis usually affects both eyes. As it's only in one eye and sounds like not fully open , I'd suspect an injury or a foreign object. Definitely need the vet ASAP.Okay thank you, I'll ring tomorrow. Unless you think I should ring this evening?

Mine had weepy eyes today. Sent photo to vet and got some drops. Thinks conjunctivitis. Will do a visit tomorrow if changed. Is in both eyes.
3 of my 6 had fat puffy eyes over the weekend when it was so humid and the flies were awful, I bought some chloramphenicol ointment at the chemist and all cleared up within a couple of days.
