I have never done any kind of showing but last year bought a Connemara gelding who is happy to try anything so I would quite like to take him to some local shows. His passport is from the Connemara Pony Breeders Society in Ireland. I'm not sure if I need to also register him (and me?) with the British Connemara Pony Society. Do I also need to have him measured before I enter any showing classes? The show schedule I have says:
Connemara - Registered Ponies
Class 61 - In Hand 4 Years and over not exceeding 148cm
Class 62 - In Hand 1,2 and 3 year old not exceeding 148cm
Class 63 - Ridden 4 years and over not exceeding 148cm
Followed by the Connemara Championship for clases 61-63
Class 64 - Young Handlers 12 years and under Ponies pure or part bred
Class 65 - Young Handlers 13 to 18 years Ponies pure or part bred.
All Young Handler classses are to be judged on handler turnout, presentation of pony and showing technique.
The qualifying handlers need not be a member to qualify at this show, but will need to become full members to enter the final. The first and second prize winners from each section qualify for the final which will be held at the BCPS In-Hand show 2016.
Please refer to the British Connemara Pony Society for registrations to the society.
It's laid out like that with no gaps between the paragraphs of text so I'm not sure if the wording is only applicable to the young handler classes. If so can I just enter my pony to the main in hand and ridden classes as he is now?
