Has anyone been to the Connie sales In Clifden, Galway or even the Brightwells one.
Contemplating going to both next year (plenty of time to save)
Whats the standard like?
I`ve had a mooch through previous sale catalogues and there`s lots of interesting sounding horses.
OO and will i be ok on a connie 14.2hh plus...I`m 5'4 and just over 9 stone, OH reckons I`ll look silly but tried telling him they have a deep girth and I`d probably look smaller on a connie than on my current girly.

Cheers in advance :)

I went to the Clifden sales a good few years back. The quality ponies made good money - all of the ponies I identified went above my limit - but things may well be different now. You will be fine on a connie, as you say they are very deep and quite wide and will easily carry your leg. The dark dun cantering in my siggie was under 14.2 and the rider about 5'5" at that stage.

I`d better save then...even if i didnt buy would be really interesting to go to an irish sale and I have family living in galway so would be a free holiday :D

Thanks for info....connies are fab :)

Shame your not looking now, i happen to know there is a nice one entered for Llanybydder sales tomorrow.

You`ve got to be joking!
I cancelled my day off tomorrow because I didnt think there would be anything worth going to see!!!!! :( I`m only a few miles down the road too....arrgghhhh!

Nope not joking sorry lol, he belongs to a friend of a friend, apparently standing at 15hh. Copied & pasted from the catalogue:
44. Grey pure Connemara Gelding, 11y/o. Hunted hounds, jumps anything. Very talented and confident horse. Snafflemouth, good to catch, box, shoe and in traffic.
