I'm sure this has been discussed before so I am sorry if I am asking you all to repeat yourselves...
I'd like to know if anyone here has tried the chopped carboard bedding (possibly ecobed), and if it was easy to keep a deep, banked bed (I do not have rubber matting and don't intend buying any, so concrete floors), and also Aqamax (pelleted bedding)....has anyone used it and does it really expand to a larger amount? Can you keep a deep, banked bed, cost effectively, with it?
At present I can get the cardboard bedding for considerabley less than the aquamax, but I'd like to hear others expereince please?
At present both horses are on Sundown Red but its expensive and not absorbant...you take it out as fast as you put it in.
I tried one bale of cardboard and found it super-absorbant, and loads in abale...am trying the pelleted bedding today...so I'd like to hear how others have fared?
TIA....

I love cardboard! It's so easy to muck out - you just pick up the poo with a scoop and then take the wet out and 'shuffle' the rest to make it fluffy. The poo tends to sit on top, unlike shavings, and it is incredibly absorbent (so rubber mats not a necessity). I used to do deep beds with big banks and used probably a bale a week max to top up in a 14x12 stable.

Oh thank you for that! I meant to add my mares box is 12x15, and my concern was keeping it deep.
Can you tell me if it all stayed in place when your horse gets up/lays down?
