I have been told by my vet that "some horses are just like this"
and she has been this way since I had her and previous owners said not to worry ...normal for her

It is not always there full on and consistancy varries. It can be balls with an expulsion of a bit of liquid afterwards to full on sloppy cow flop consistancy. never pure liquid though but also never truly what I would call normal.

No diet changes or signs of fatigue etc
Seems fine in herself for her age (16)
big belly but had had NUMEROUS foals before I got her.
No worms
Mosty on good quality grass hay with a touch of alfalfa for protein. No grass at all for a couple of months.
any way I can try and stop it? She is otherwise very healthy but it just bothers me

It is to the point that is messes up her back end ll the time

Thanks! will do

I thought about putting this there but this room is busier (they all say that eh?)

Agree regarding probiotics, you could also blood test to make sure she is not deficient in anything.
I have to say, though, that my older girl, the 21yr old Tb will have loose dung after rain - it seems as though she doesn't extract the extra water from the grass as she digests it, and just passes it through instead.
Doesn't seem to bother her.
Also, sometimes hormones can cause diarrhoea.

Ok

Ill look into pro biotics and ask my vet if he can suggest any.

Puppy

what thread? I can't find any. Was it from a while ago? I looked through 7 pages. Do you happen to have a link to it?

ah! gotcha! lol

I guess I use pat when I am talking about a cow. Not sure where the flop came from. All I can say is I have heard it many times in the past so maybe it is just a silly Americanism? Or I am just odd ( probable reason)

Thanks for the link! Lots to read there and I am half way through
