Just to let you all know that the vet came out today & the horse has an abscess on his gum right up the very back and the dentist never spotted it. Not the riders fault, no need for bit or saddle. It was just something that was spotted by the dentist. Thanks for the help and also to the sarcastic people who commented also 👍

Glad you've found that OP, it must have been uncomfortable for him. Hopefully he settles now.

I assume English isn't your first language? I think it was just hard to picture what was going on with your horse from the description, so other posters were just trying to understand you clearly :)

I’m actually slight dyslexic and have only learned how to read and right year ago. English is my language

He’s been doing it since the day he arrived 3 months ago!! Was doing it with a 2* event rider also.

Wow. So he's had that abscess for more than 3 months, it must have been pretty big after that long so it's no wonder he was uncomfortable. I would be a bit miffed if my dentist had missed something so obvious. Good thing you got him checked out!

I was on the phone to the practice & told them that I wasn’t happy that something so obvious was not spotted. They didn’t seem to care

Your horse dentist has an outfit big enough to call a practice? Did you speak to the dentist or the Practice Manager? I'd be sending a stiffly worded letter if that was my horse.

What bit is he in?

It could well be rider problem.. BUT my old mare use to do similar until we found a bit she found more comfortable. She also had underlying conditions that meant she was unable to work from behind.

Could that be why he was sold from the field?
