My 4 year old has a bit of a thing with his mouth and feet and will use them on everything, give him a hay net and he will put his foot through it 🙄 I fear he will get inside a hay bar or similar as he’s just that type of horse! Any safe suggestions for him to contain the hay as he currently has it on the floor and he will also drag that round with his feet (he cannot have banks as he will just dig them up also 🤣 he’s just a bit overactive with those feet)

Honestly if he is that bad I would keep to having it on the floor and living with the wastage, annoying though that is. If he's not shod I would maybe try a hay pillow but not fixed to anything.

Is he dragging it to his water to wet it? If so he might prefer soaked?

Or maybe he wants it put at a different side of the stable near a friend or doorway?

Unless either of those help, I’d just chill out about the look and the waste - hay isn’t too expensive at the moment luckily

If he’s playful like that any kind of hay container might be risky

Maybe just go with it until he grows up a bit x

It's a nice design but I would want to know more about the impact/wear on teeth from the hard plastic over time.

My EDT has said that, like the greenguard muzzles, he's seeing wear from people who use those hard plastic hay balls to try and increase the time it takes their horses to eat their hay ration. It's made me cautious about any product based on rigid plastic tbh.

I should have probably added, he’s not greedy so hay balls or the above probably wouldn’t work. Out of interest what is this called, as this could suit my other.

He is not dragging to water as it is next to the hay pile and he loves dunking the hay - he does the same in the field, but won’t eat soaked hay - I just let him get on with his DIY job as I’ve long given up with that 😂 but was seeing if I’d missed any grand ideas. He’s a very settled boy just very playful with his mouth and front feet. He will also drag banks down in the stable, so nothing is safe 😂
