Chilli and Cindy (the in foal mare) are both dead. Rocky severly emmaciated, and due to be PTS immediately.
The whereabouts of the remaining horses is currently unknown.

The CHR Facebook page was shut down when more & more people started requesting photographic evidence that the horses people were donating towards were actually alive.

Now we know why :(

Surely now, something can be done? :(:(

disgusting, those poor horses. Not just abused but betrayed by so called rescuers.
Maybe the rescue will return money that was donated, they didnt use it clearly by the state of the horses :(

Ive just seen this on fb the equine rant site it is absolutely unbelievable, i started following CHR and loved seeing all their rescues and how they were improving. Then they started to go down hill and I now know why, one of the admins was sacked and when she left the horses were being sold. The owner of the group who was running the rescue with her husband tried to assure everyone all was well but didnt have the photos to back it up. Then photos started appearing of donated items being used on their riding school horses and we started to fear the worst. When the questions started to get too much they shut down the site and now we know. Poor Cindy who was due to foal in 10 days is now dead along with poor Chilli.

And poor Rocky...
PFK offered him a place with them, when they found him working again & in a poor state... but CHR refused to allow it :(

I'm appalled at this news

The thread on the FB group which includes contributions from individuals more highly involved with the horses when they were in the care of CRR is here: Equine Rant

I hope it can all be documented in some way so some form of justice can be achieve for these horses and people be warned away from outright scams in the name of 'rescue' :(

This needs to be kept to the forefront of peoples minds. The two of them should be strung up,treated the same way those poor horses were. Instead one of them is sunning themselves in Eygpt and the other is reaping the benefits of donations made to the rescue horses in Wales. Is there nothing that can be done?? They are at liberty to scam people and effectivley murder more 'rescues'

this is an absolute disgrace. There is no excuse for what these poor horses have had to go through not only by the hands of humans, before going to a so called rescue center and also by the hands of the murderous pathetic poor excuses of human beings at the rescue centre... there has to be something that can be done to stop these ppl . I know one lives in Llandudno wales and would love to go knock her door.but that wont bring these poor horses back. i just hope there is some way we can find the remaining horses and get them to a safe haven. never to be at the hands of these ppl (term used lightly) again......sam love you hun so sorry this has happened i klnow what you gave for one mare and the fact you actually purchased her etc. my heart is aching for you xxxxx

These poor horses were taken to the desert and abandoned, how cruel is that, PFK would have taken them in but the owners didnt want people to know how bad their condition was.

Awful....PFK should have been allowed to take the horses.
When are people going to stop "rescuing" horses and allowing them to become in need of rescue from the very body purporting to have "saved" them.
Rescue is ONLY rescue when they are going to a situation better than the one they find themselves in!

Joeanne - the huge problem out in Egypt is when they think a foreigner is interested in one of their horses, they think that the horse is special. Even in an emaciated state they think that if a Westerner wants it, then it must be very special. So for a heavy emaciated horse they will ask for £1000. The small rescue groups out there just do not have the money to be able to buy the animals. Also a lot of the locals with these skinny horses do not want to sell. You cannot take the horse without the owners permission and unfortunately it leaves you in quite a hard position. We are hoping that the new government will bring in an act to protect animals but they need to start showing care and compassion toward humans first and then hopefully this will follow on to the animals. We are looking at implementing a new idea through Cairo Farrier - I will announce what at a later date when we have the ideas in place :) In the meantime please try and look at the positives and what a minority of people are trying to do in a bid to help the working animals out in Egypt.

I have rescued mares and foals here on my yard. I am often in a sleeping bag in stables so I can do feeds or checks on any sick or poor ones that come in. Cant fathom how anyone can be so detached from horses they have "rescued" to the extent they will allow them to be resold to a life of neglect or abuse.
Id be getting carted of in a box before I allowed any of mine to need re rescueing!
And something has to be done that people are not been duped by persons running rescues abroad without full charity status and registered with an approved body.

Aces High, do you know how the charity registration process works out in Egypt?

Hi LLL - I would be very surprised if there is registration act for charities in Egypt but I could be completely wrong. I can do some asking around if you want me to? Due to there having been so many problems there I would very much doubt it would have any pull. They haven't had a government in place for over a year until now so I really do not know. Here the registration is tough and you are then bound by the act. We are getting registered in the UK as we feel it's the correct way to do it and a respected governing body and also we are based here even though the work is abroad.

There is a charity registration system in Egypt and CHR is no. 311 of the Red Sea Governate, the problem is reporting them with everything that is going on in Egypt right now. I will be opening a bank account specifically for Sheba to pay for her in her happy new yard so if anyone wants to donate please do....details later. Today a decision is going to be made about Rocky, he was the other 'survivor' after being so callously sold back into work in Cairo. He has equine malaria, malnutrition, 'lumps' along his side and his penis has been whipped to the point it is hugely swollen and he is unable to withdraw it. Saying all this Rocky is such a strong character bit I don't know of this has broken his will to live. In May he really did look well and feeling his toes too. Positive thoughts for him this morning as he will be given the chance if the vet thinks he can pull through.

disgusting, I'm a bit lost by the entire story, having not followed it from the start but surely something can be done to stop this awful woman?

Thanks for that, I did suspect there wasn't much that could be done :(
I think it's great news that you guys at Cairo Farrier have now become registered, and it sounds as though you're all doing things in the very best way possibe. You do such great work out there :)

I've been asked to post the most recent pictures of Rocky, now he is no longer in the hands of CHR. I believe he has been seen by a vet and the decision has been made to give him a chance to pull through from this, as he is reported to be a tough cookie. Here he is with Sheeba.
*WARNING* these pictures are not very nice:

It breaks my heart to see those pictures. The trust and kindness that animals offer to be betrayed by people is so sad. After seeing the threads on here I very nearly set up a direct debit to chr but for some reason I didn't and instead donated to Cairo farrier, now I'm so pleased I didn't support the scam and instead supported people that are actually helping
