Continental reins

My dressage coach told me to get some. I got webbing ones first and hated them as they are very stiff, but I now have rubber lined leather and love them!

I had mine made bespoke so I have the stops exactly where I wanted them and 3" apart. At the time most of the ones on the market had a big gap between stops which isn't that helpful. They definitely make me more aware of not slipping my reins and making sure the horse is properly straight into each hand.

I can highly recommend the Henry James biogrip hybrid continental rubber reins. They are light, non bulky, flexible and the stops are every 5 cm. They also come in extra long, which I prefer.

And as I am the queen of riding with uneven rein length (and stirrups come to that), I have further personalised mine by attaching a piece of white electrical insulation tape to the third stopper back on each side, so that I can keep check that my reins are even :D.

I do the insulation tape trick too:D

I have the Henry James eventer biogrip reins which have the stoppers but a smoother rubber that's not pimpled. Definitely find they help and I might try the insulation tape trick.

If you go to their website you'll have lots of variations of reins with stoppers.

I started using these reins a few months ago and they have made a big difference to me. They do the job of continental reins, but I think they look a bit smarter as they are leather on the outside..... https://www.gfsriding.co.uk/product...qFQvtDFoDiVD_SBaTqEkenjdl2emhTC8o3u_J-UoqoveA
