hi! long essay coming now!
i have a lovely 16.1 hanoverian x tb, he is just turning 8 and does a bit of everything, but loves his eventing
he went lame about 4 weeks ago in both front feet, i got the vet out quite quickly and they set about doing a lameness work up for him! Nerve blocks showed that he was lame in both front feet and x-rays showed no significant boney changes, he went back into the practice the next day for a coffin joint nerve block, and although a significant amount of fluid squirted out when she injected him, he did not respond to this at all and was still noticably lame and therefore my vet concluded that there would be no point medicating the coffin joint.
we recently went for MRI's which were also not entirely conclusive - i was told there and then by the vets at the MRI practice that he had a few minor navicular changes and an inflammed navicular bursa as well, and also a bit of inflammation on the coffin joint. They're advice to my vet was to nerve block the navicular bursa (although that is a very scary nasty one
)
my vets at home recieved the MRI's and found the navicular changes and bursa very insignificant and now want to medicate the coffin joint - has anyone had any similar experiences or ideas?? thanks
