Control headcollars?

We've got two sorts on the yard. One with the metal bits on the poll and one without.

I can't say if one is better than the other as I haven't really been tested on them.

I use the Dually headcollar and it works very well. My horse is over 17hh and loves to charge off without me and I have found this the most effect method without resorting to Chifney/bridles etc. It works on the nose only.

I did try the rope type halters but it only worked the once !

Everyday - Rope halters, much better for handling than flat webbing

Training & general - Dually Halter, control when needed and great for lungeing too. Requires training to get the most out of it.

Monsters & very stubborn - Be Nice

I use rope halters as the norm, load in a dually and train 'orrible types with a be nice.

I prefer loading with a dually as I don't have to change the halter to tie up with.

I have a Be Nice an it's one of the best pieces of equipment I own, perfect for the big naughty monsters

I have a dually for my very strong bargy/planting mare and she can't do anything about it. Its trained her out of it now. I'd certainly recommend one because you can ride in it and tie up from it provided you don't clip the leadrope onto the control rings

What would be best for leading to/from field a big irish dumbo who knows the way and thinks its quicker if he goes alone!?
