Ok Girls and Boys in the past I have used a Controller Headcollar and lunge line just to teach the lad a few simple manners etc. When I say simple I really mean that.

Just a bit of move back, move forward, follow me and stop when I stop dont crash into me and mind my personal space.

This evening I took him into the arena just for a bit of walking up and down and to play with a chapter in a kelly Marks book I have borrowed.

Well himself was being quietly cheeky and he obeyed all my requests but he did a lot of yawning and then when I had a go at asking him to move his shoulders he kept grabbing the lunge line in his teeth.

?????

Is this the same horse that you posted about in SY the other day and said that he was in 24/7 and rather full of energy?! If so then I can see why he would be a little "snappy".

Sounds pretty good to me if he obeyed all your requests! Yawning could have so many causes that I wouldn't even begin to guess, but if he's grabbing the lungeline in his teeth you have to decide for yourself whether that's something you're prepared to allow. If you decide to allow it then fine (depending on the horse I'm working with that may well be the option I take). However if you decide not to allow it then you need to make your boundaries clear to him. Ultimately it's control of the speed and direction of the feet that you want, and generally if you've got that down to a tee then the rest of his mind and body can't be far away!
