I know this will be controversial, I apologise in advance......

Am i the only person who just can't get away with riding tights?! I like the feel of them but the sticky knees just stop my leg sliding on the knee rolls! Give me good old cotton jods any day!

Phew, I feel better having vocalised that but I'm prepared to be shot down ?

I can deal with tights, I have some with suade/faux suade knee patches. It's the silicone that I cannot deal with! Too much grip. I don't like that much grip. I decided to try a pair (fullseat) and they are comfortable but they stick to my car's leather seats and the saddle too much - especially in posting trot. I just use them for hacking now since they do have a handy phone pocket.

I will confess to having bought a pair. They were in the sale.

They’ve got a silicone grip though, and at the moment I am riding in a sheepskin bareback pad. So in the interest of not having a fluffy white arse every time I ride, I’m still sweating in my twill breeches.

I sometimes ride in my running tights - they're a bit slippy generally though. I keep meaning to get some for wet days, more winter, lycra being wet is less vile than breeches with a suede seat I think

On a separate note (sorry to hijack the thread) what is it with the price of breeches??!!!! In what universe does it cost upwards of £100 to make a pair of breeches?? I’ve just been shopping online and was amazed at the number of ordinary looking breeches selling for upwards of £150. And don’t get me started on the ones with diamanté...

I just do not get anything that makes you bum look bigger, and makes your bum looks like a target, even when I was a size 10/12 I wouldn't have worn them. I have not idea who first thought of it but its just crazy and are women brain washed, even the models have trouble carrying it off? I need even more Lycra now, a nice thick material, no seams that attract attention to the not so best bits and definitely a solid colour.

And a biiiiig waistband, not something that cuts you off mid-muffin top!

Running tights from Decathlon! Used with a synthetic saddle and had no issues with slipping
But I can't get along with sticky bum stuff at all, it just drives me nuts

I thought this was just me! I love riding tights but hate the silicone grips. I usually wear the noble outfitters ones, not the most flattering but soooo comfortable and easy to wash and dry. I've been wearing riding tights for 10years, I got a few pairs for a summer working in Georgia, US. I feel very fashion forward for once now everyone wears them! I have a silicone pair that I use if I'm expecting trouble though ?

Ominous portents of the apocalypse:

Plague ✔️
Civil unrest ✔️
Environmental distaster ✔️
Murder wasps ✔️
Huge, lycra-clad arses rising to block out the sun
Vampires walk among us and feed on the innocent

Maybe let's not go there...

We have mamil’s on bikes.....there is one particular who wears white Lycra with stripy pants......

A recent convert; I love my Horseware ones! The comfiest things I've ever ridden in and I don't even wince if I see myself in a mirror ...

I have a couple of pairs - the decathlon ones are a bit too thin really and don't stay up with their pathetic piddly waistband.

I also have a pair of kinglsand which are pretty nice, they are silicone but it's not particularly sticky

However - give me a good pair of breeches any day over the riding tights - I won't be buying any more

I have never bought riding tights it just seems wrong there too thin, I have the lycra gym leggings and I can't imagine riding in those and they just seem the same, I have kingsland pair of breeches that are made of the soft shell material and I love them and I get on fine with the silicone grips.

I've got old Ariat riding tights which aren't made anymore and now get Noble Equestrian ones. Yeah they show how huge my arse is but so be it, they're way comfier than jods (I find the waist fasteners on jods irritating and all the bloody bulk around the ankles with either velcro or turned over fabric, awkward with whatever sort of boots I'm going for). So yep, definitely tights but not the really thin sort and I've looked at loads that I know I wouldn't get on with.

Full seat suede for me, silicone free zone. High waisted and firm material. I have two pairs of riding tights that I ride in the school at home with a big t-shirt over the top. Only the dogs see me so hopefully not ruining anyone's eyesight. Both pairs only have knee patches. Not sticky enough imo.

I don't wear riding tights - I cannot imagine that the world will ever be ready for that! But I can tell who doesn't ride in the hills :pI remember going for a hack on the 17hh Clydesdale mare in a pair of nylon jodhpurs and almost sliding off the back of the saddle as we turned uphill on the steep road towards home. I have always made sure that I have 'sticky bum' breeches since then :D

Don't like silicone patches and don't understand why being glued to the saddle is supposed to be a good idea. I have some kingsland riding tights with not so sticky knee grips which I like on hot summer days.
Tried riding in running tights which was not a good idea, the thin, slippery material isn't designed for riding in.

If I wasnt dying at the price I'd consider riding tights!

I was also a bit put off by the patterns on the sticky bit none of them were plain they all had horseshoes or something on

I'm currently unless I have a lesson riding in jogging bottoms ? its actually far more comfortable especially when I am hacking. I tuck them into my country boots

I agree saw a really nice pair of riding tights when I was looking, took them off nearly keeled over at the price and swiftly put them back!

Its because it is horse related. I smiled when lockdown was on one of the other liveries was bathing with her nice posh bottle of expensive horse shampoo while I used my £1 bottle of Alberto Balsam human shampoo because I'm tight and have realised I'm getting ripped off paying for horse shampoo when human ones are far cheaper and probably more care has gone into testing them ?

Now you see, I think they are better at keeping all your wobbly bits in place with all that lycra. Aren’t jods and breeches just as unflattering?

I only have knee patches can’t stand full seat ones. The ones I have don’t stick too much.

I now have very amusing images of people getting stuck on leather seats getting out of their car!

Crazy cat lady, it was J&J’s No More Tears for my girl all the way. Smelled scrumptious and totally kind to skin. And yes, a fraction of the price!

If it is wedding or horse related, add a zero...?
