Convicted Tennessee Trainer Explains

What a sick "sport". Very very sick! What's wrong with a horses natural gait? Pour horses having to walk "spectaculair" just for some stupid people to watch and "enjoy". Makes me mad.

Can't see what he says, cos on phone. However saw the original appalling footage.

What is his explanation for such terrible cruelty?

Sick. And he doesn't exactly sound contrite, does he? I used to live and work in Tennessee and have trained a few TWH's that were rejects from the "Big Lick" barns (to be normal riding horses, albeit gaited), and sweeter, more willing horses you will never find. Makes it even worse.

It's the industry that needs changing, the judges, the officials, the vets, they all know and basically encourage these practises. If its true that a horse can't walk like they do in the big lick unless they are sore, then the big lick shouldn't be happening.

Obviously what he has done is wrong, but I can't help thinking he is just a pawn and having him in prison will change very little.

I wonder if they can be trained to walk like that without all the horrid stuff though? I wouldn't like to encourage such unnatural movement but I bet someone can do it.

Personally I think they should ban all artificial aids, including whips, spurs, chains, raised shoes. All horses feet should be available for inspection, all should be drug tested, & subject to randon testing & examination between shows. Americans need to rethink what is morally acceptable with regard to the tretment of this breed. I'm not saying any country is free of abuse to show animals, including uk, but we are trying to tackle it & to deliberately inflict such pain is barbaric.

Just about what I expected to hear :(. So as is appears, the showing of tennesse walking horses is not a competition of the best bred, and better trained horses- it is just a competition of how sore the horse can get.. and who's being paid to say what.
What a sick, twisted sport which demostrates perfectly and horrifyingly the extent human scum will go for pride and money.

Its the smirking in places!

What a sick, smug b-----d. I'd be up for soring his bits

Just what I thought ^^^^^^

I don't see it being stopped, but would love to be proved wrong.

Like the idea of soaring his bits to see how high he lifts his feet with chains round his ankles & platform shoes to 'enhance' his gait.
