Afternoon all!!

Yes, its that time of year again when we start looking for the rugs for the impending winter and I was wondering....

Can anyone recommend a fleece or similar cooler rug that their horse hasn't destroyed? (Apart from thermatex as I'm just not that rich!!)
In the past 2 years I have tried rambo, rhino, amigo and masta fleece type coolers and all have come to a grim end being ripped, shredded, surcingles pulled off etc etc - they seem so flimsy!! I know its the nature of the material but I would like one that at least does a whole winter!!!

BTW Derby House has a BIG sale on this w/e hence looking for new rugs now!!

Hmm well I recommend Thermatex - I know you think they are expensive but they do last and that way you don't have to keep going out buying replacements.

Saying that, Mark Todd does a cheaper version which I've heard is really good.

OK fair point, I suppose the combined value of the rugs that have been destroyed are about the same as a thermatex, ah well, time to bite the bullet and get one then...

I know you said no to thermatex but I've had mine for 16 years now!! (god I feel old adding that up!!) yes it has a few holes in the outer layer but still smart and very functional!!
Otherwise if you still can't run to a thermatex, you could look at the Weatherbeeta thermo cell cooler, they look a little harder wearing than just a fleece:

I also have a masta coolex remarkably hard wearing for a thinner rug, very deep pattern so not so good for fine horses, fab for cobs and hunters!

I have a Comfort Zone fleece and its been well worth the money, £55, was purchased about 6yrs ago and washes up like new. Lovely rug!
