Just wondered if I could get some recommendations for a decent fly rug that doesn't cost the earth. I've a green Rambo mesh one ATM (bought cheap on eBay) but it's rough plastic-like mesh and rubs my fine skinned WB badly.

The last white netting type one I had (a Masta one I think) lasted all of one night before it started coming apart at the seems. Within a week I'd binned it.

Can anyone recommend the best mid-priced cool and lightweight fly rug please? Thanks :)

i've got a riff raff one and use if for keeping her cool. However, it hasnt lasted a long time and needs some of the straps stitching back on but it stays put when rolling and she did wear it constantly for the whole summer/autumn and spring!

I have an Amigo Bug Rug on my TB, the Navy and silver one, its on its 2nd summer, has not rubbed at all and I also bought the liner you can attach to make it wind/waterproof on showery days. Think there was some on Ebay for about £50.

I too have been using the Amigo bug rug. I have two which I alternate as they need washing every few days. mine are the Silver and blue ones which I paid £35ish 2-3 years ago. The new ones are a burgandy colour and are less expensive. Someone who works in a tack shop told me they are the same, only the new colour. Same soft material etc. I don't know why the silver ones seem to have gone up in price. Perhaps people think that Silver reflects more heat and keeps the horse cooler?

I think the weatherbeeta airflow combo are the best, they are soft and my last one lasted about 5 years

Thanks everyone :)

Now tallying between an Amigo Bug Rug and WeatherBeeta Kool Coat Airstream Combo..

Think the new ones have an integrated neck cover instead of detachable. Not sure if they are exactly the same material either.
