Iv had my lad on CoolStance Copra, grass nuts and Topspec balancer for a few months now. It's given him a fantastic gloss to his coat. My only gripe is that it swells to such a large volume that he's getting bored eating it. If u can just leave them to it and are in no rush for ur horse to eat it wouldn't be a problem but standing waiting for an hour gets to be a pain.
None of mine would eat it. It has a very strong smell so quite off putting for picky horses although none of mine are picky at all just won't touch Copra.
I feed it with alfa a and a balancer. Mine love it and look great on it. I mix with warm water and feed straight away. I'm hopeless at remembering to soak things overnight!
I tried it on picky, poor doer. Took me a while to build it up to a reasonable amount at which point it then sent him bananas! However he is very sensitive & reacts to the strangest things!
Just FYI, Coolstance copra is probably one of the weakest feeds out there. The only reason for feeding it is for the fiber and possibly fat (which isn't that much eather...).
The protein is very low in Lysine and methionine, two essential amino-acids for horses and actually what matters in feeding protein. So when they say it helps with weight gain, I just laugh, as those two AA's are essential for muscle growth.
