Yeah I am going and looking forward to it. I had a SJ lesson with my horse yesterday and although she still lacks confidence she is getting there. I am hoping to get a nice double clear. What class you doing?
The first one!! 2'6" - I have a sj lesson today and a dressage lesson tomorrow - really looking forward to it and would be absolutely over the moon if I get a clear round. Have you seen that the times are up?
If you want me to tell you what all the fences are i can. I did the course three times last yearand the course pretty much stayed the same barr a few exceptions. Its a lovely 2ft6 course!
I have been schooling over there a couple of times so hoping it will be kind!! They have some lovely inviting fences and its all nice and open so I think it will be nice for babies. I'm more worried about the show jumping!!!!
If someone could let me know the fences in advance that would be fab, or a roough idea of what I will be facing. SJ will be ok providing she is going forward and not napping and rearing, XC I will probably end up carrying her around
but no open ditch on its own. The other fences are lovely and straight forward the trakaner is the only real question for a novice (unless your horse does them and its a great course all round!)
Ok quick run down (and this might have changed from last year remember):
1-3 small log type things more like 2ft3
4) sharks teeth again 2ft3ish
5)small rails with minscule ditch infront but honestly its not even that just lowered ground
6) round in other field - log role
7)supended log
8)log
9)flower bed (bit spooky)
10)steeplechase brush thing
11)tyres
12)trakener
13)water trot in pop up a step out
14)this part varies usually a log or something in middle of field
15) tiger trap
16) up step
17-19 home stretch to include, log, tyres and gate type thing
Err i think that about right, something along those lines anyway. Like i say beginning of course is more like 2ft3 but its all very inviting and not technical. I really enjoy it it flows!
Thank you - I hope the Trakhener is a nice one - just had a fantastic jumping lesson and feeling a lot better about it now - bit of rescue remedy and I will be flying!!
Trakehner and ditches - not v good at them. Ardingly had a fake trakehner which we jumped ok. Guess I need to be riding forward and confidently. Damn I wish I had done some more XC practice now! I will be on a very long bay mare with swett itch in her mane so may look a bit sruffy.
Just wanted to say that I am the world's most nervous jumper and I find Coombelands OK (its out local XC course). The worst jump is the Trakhaner(sp!) on the novice course, but even I've been known to jump it on occasion, so it can't be that bad - mind you it was in a pairs competition and my fearless friend (and jumping coach!) was shouting at me from behind to just "sit up and leg on", ie just get on with it!! Think I was more scared of her than the jump!!
.
I'm grooming for a friend on Sunday at the RC teams event round the same course, so not going on Monday, but wish everyone best of luck.
In fact, just remembered that they now have another smaller jump next to the Trakhener, that doesn't have a ditch, so they may actually leave the Trakhener out of the small class and stick with the other jump.
That would be great if there is no trakehner, I don't want to get myself eliminated there with my horse throwing toys out and rearing because she is unsure
