COPD, can it ruin a horses showing career?

does he get stabled ever? mine only shows symptoms when she's stabled before a show:/

Yes, he's stabled every night October-April and every other day November-April and then before shows the rest of the year. We're getting better at managing it now, we make sure we have dust extracted bedding and use haylage as opposed to hay (if we have to use hay we soak it.) Generally he only has one coughing fit per ride after being stabled, although this is decreasing now.
 
Have you tried a Respirator? They basically steam clean your horse from the inside out and worked wonders on my chronic bleeder racehorse when he was still racing.
 
If managed correctly there is no reason why she should not still be shown.
You will need to ensure she is in a dust free environment.Rubber mats/haylage etc. I think it also helps to have the horse as fit as possible, this helps to keep the airways clear.
