Copper Roller - loose ring double jointed

Me neither hence the question. I think I have searched just about everywhere

I am reluctant to use a single jointed as I am not a great fan, but want to try the roller action on my horse.

I am not looking for something as severe as a waterford, more something that has revolving bits to aid acceptance and stop him leaning as much.

His current bit is a loose ring french link, ideally I would like something with the same level of severity (can manage a little more). The stronger bit I put in the more he tends to lean.

He is OK in with the bit he has but would like to try a few others. I have tried a few of the Neue Schule lozenge bits but he didnt really get on with them at all.

A waterford is not a severe bit, it is quite kind as it conforms to the mouth amd does does become strong unless the rider takes a real hold on it, it used to be thought of as severe, but views have changed a bit now.

It is unlikely that your horse will lean on a waterford as it is so flexible they have nothing to lean on. I find they work well with all sorts of horses, sometimes they can just be used for a short time to sort out issues until the horse remembers it's manners.

Like roller bits they can give a false contact as the horse tends to drop behind them.

I used to have a copper roller with loose rings (not a std bit), I couldn't buy it off the peg tho I had to get Abbey bits to make it for me. They were very efficent and it came through quite quickly so may be worth contacting them??

The second bit that you've posted a pic off is not that severe, I've used it on several that lean with good results. Its a straight mouthpiece so you can use it with the 'scrub board' on the tongue or not, depending on the horse. I think you can pic them up relatively cheaply so this may be a good one to try 1st, or contact a bit bank to see if they have one you can try?

Good luck!
