Does anyone else on their yard have this frustrating problem? My daughter and I keep both our horses on a small friendly yard and have become good friends with another livery and her daughters. I know that the horsey world is small, but everything we buy is copied

.

I know imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but every time i treat my donkeys, or daughter gets something new, they have to get it. Same make bridle, rugs, jods and tops, daughters riding boots and HS1 hat, it goes on and on. My own company sponsors my daughter so she is trying to persuade the company her hubby works for to sponsor her, even down to using the same promotions co to do the embroidery work on rugs etc.

They are lovely people and I dont want to fall out, but any suggestions, it drives us a bit mad.

Buy some really crazy stuff just to wear around the yard, and see if they copy you then? Or start looking like a tramp - bet they won't copy that!

I hear katie Price does a good line in crazy horse clothes......

Hate Katie Price stuff. They actually buy and wear it.

Gets even better. Bought new eventer for daughter last year, they did the same and made sure they spent even more, even bought it from the same event rider. They then started to use the same dressage trainer as my daughter. Oh god, I am dreading the next event, they have both entered and we will look like clones.

By the way, always look a tramp on yard.

lol about always looking a tramp on the yard - me too! Makes stopping for petrol on the way home interesting

Theres someone I know who whatever I do, always has to go one better! Gets irritating but the only thing you can do is just ignore it and focus on your own thing

Teehee! Don't think anyone wants to copy my style.......holey jods and a 10 year old not-so-waterproof waterproof. Plus the obligatory wellies that leak! The whole thing wreaks of single white female......be afraid.....be very afraid.

I really wouldn't worry too much about it, just laugh it off, its not about looks and who's got the latest thing, its about enjoying yourselves, being the best you can and getting good results, at the end of the day, they cant go out and buy an exact copy of your horse, they don't come on hangers....if they did I'd be spoilt for choice and buying one every week lol.

Your obviously inspiring them which is nice thing and if there not doing it to annoy you and they are genuinely nice people and your friends, I wouldn't even give it a second thought.

Thanks for the last post. I did think as much and both daughter and I know its not about what you look like all the time. Of course they cant buy a carbon copy of our horse, she is totally unique, beautiful and irreplacable. However, once she started getting placed at intros last year and winning her section at PC area eventing, the green eyed monster stepped in and off they trotted to same comp riders yard to buy something just as good as her.

Arrh but you can buy your way to success or you can ride your way to sucess, the latter give you much more sense of self acheivement and satisfaction in the end.....in the end that is

sounds like your just miffed they liked your horse and went to same yard (as many would if they saw a horse they liked) and bought one equally as good/better?

i don't see any problem! You should be helping each other out, booking the same instructor is great as it lets her have more clients and more reason to come and see you and therefore you will have someone else on the yard who is hopefully working towards the same goals. I don't think I would want to be at livery with you! I like being able to go to events with people off my yard, enjoy ourselves and encourage one another, you sound like a total cow! TBH its sounds like they really like you and take your example, and really you should be grateful, as your doing something right. I hate bitching more tan anything in yards and its all soooo much nicer when everyone tries to get along and help each other out. Our little group all go off to BSJA and help each other out working in, practise fences etc and then have a jolly big bottle of wine at the end. Why don't you just encourage one another and enjoy each others company and build a bit of yard team sprit! Maybe get some jackets embroidered with the yard name and something like "team....." it's surely nice to have someone else doing the same things as you and with the same goals, life shouldn't be all about being that competitive, its very unhealthy.

Laugh it off, find it flattering and be thankful thats the biggest problem you have to deal with at your yard.

Compared to some of the crazy YO/livery stories you read on here, you are very lucky!

i think the post above calling you a cow is a little strong!!! it would annoy me to be honest as it sounds like she's trying to outdo you but then as has been said think of it as flattery that you must have great taste in horses, clothes, tack etc etc

(although thinking about it...have you seen the film 'single white female'?!!!
