Cordless clippers (yes i know its spring)

Hi its my birthday soon and hubby is giving me some money to buy myself ‘something nice’ so I thought I might buy a pair of good cordless clippers (not sure if that is what he had in mind but he does know me quite well by now so wont be surprised )

Are there any out there that will clip out a hairy cob on one battery or am I smoking dope?

(I still have the wolseley swifts that my brother bought me for me eighteenth which are still going strong so just fancied a cordless option of proper clippers)

I really like my Masterclip RoamerHD cordless clippers.

I get one hairy native hunter clipped easily off one battery.

I should get a commission from the amount of times I recommend them but the Heineger Xplorers are great. I clip my hairy 11.2hh out fully on one clip and they are really easy to use.

Second the Heiniger Xplorers. Really beefy and well designed clippers, easy to hold. I've also got mains Heiniger clippers, but decent cordless is so much easier - no trailing lead to avoid.

Plus they do spare batteries and you could clip all day with one battery charging back up and the other powering the clippers.

I have found the Xplorers to be a bit glitchy. I like them and they clip well but every so often they decide not to turn on. Then they changed their mind and do turn on. The same has happened with my friends who have them too.

I've now got the new Lister Eclipse and they are very good. They are shorter than my Xplorers so better for getting into the nooks and crannies. My only criticism is they are surprisingly loud.

I recently got the Heiniger Xplorers on the back of recommendations on here and love them, cannot recommend highly enough. One of my most favourite purchases for a while.

Masterclip Roamers mine came with an additional battery but don’t really need it for one clip. Mine did a hunter clip on a warm blood and then straight after a full clip on a hairy cob one battery per clip.

I got Masterclip HD Roamers a year and a half ago. I can easily full clip my clydesdale (except below his knees!) with them on a single charge and there's a spare battery in the box. Would definitely recommend.

Definitely Heiniger Xplorers. Never had any problems with them. I have 2 batteries and 2 sets of blades, just in case they run out, but they never have. The guy who services them says Heiniger are the only decent brand now.

We have Masterclip Roamers in the yard and I hate them. They are very tail end heavy, don't do small areas, you can't grip them well with small hands etc. The battery does 2.5 tb full clips. Then takes hours and hours to charge. The other battery does not work.

I wouldn't recommend them. I only used them for a couple the other day as I wasn't planning on doing any more clips and sent my corded heavy duty ones in for a service.

I’ve got the Aesculap Durati I think that's what they’re called.
They have a pink squiggle on them.

The Liveryman Harmony plus are much smaller and lightweight 400g but I don’t know if they’d cope with a hairy cob.

I can see why the Roamers are a bit heavy and long but for one clip a few times a year they are good value and I haven’t had any issues with batteries. If you’re clipping a lot of horses frequently then they wouldn’t be the best choice probably.

No that's why I rarely use them. I can count on 1 hand the number of times they have been out. But they are handy to keep about for weeks such as last week where my beloved heavy duty corded clippers are in for servicing and a random hairy one pops up.

I use either the Lister Laser's (on 10+ horse days) or Liveryman Black Beauties (I don't do more than 6 a day with these).

Heiniger Xplorers easily clip my 14.2 cob with a horrendously thick double coat with one charge, and I am not quick at clipping.
