cornucresine / kevin bacons

That is what i have been using....just wondered if there was any benefit of using cornucrecine or both?
 
Cornucresine is just for massaging the coronet band with to stimulate new growth..... you'd probably have the same effect if you just massaged the coronet band without even using a product

If it is cracking you are struggling with I would wet the hooves and then apply Aqueous cream (buy it from the chemist/boots - it is the same as NAF Hoof Moist) twice a day until you see an improvement.
 
I have just started using Kevin Bacon but someone was telling me that they were recommended goose grease. When you look at what is in the Kevin Bacon formula it is animal fat, a bit of bay laurel (plant) and some vitamins so you might be OK just smearing some lard on?
 
Stan had terrible feet, losing shoes, cracks, everything!!

He's now on NAF Biotin (just in case that helps long term) & short term I use "Hoof Heal" which is in a pink/ yellow bottle & contains bees wax amongst other oils.

It is far better IMHO than NAF moist (I dont want to argue with anyone), but it really hydrates the hoof which in turn has prevented any loss of shoes/ further cracking. I used to use it about 10yrs ago on a hunter who's feet were awful & it made a difference then. It goes a long way too.
 
I use Kevin Bacon with the black lid (one with tar in) during the summer because its easy to put on, use the liquid with the brush in winter (again because its easy) and feed the suppliment. Horses feet are brilliant.

Both my farriers recommend Kevin Bacon.
 
My farrier says as long as it is greasy enough it will be fine. He uses Effol on his horses feet, as do I on my girls, and rub Cornucrescine into the coronet band in dry weather. Their feet look fantastic. They are fed on TopSpec which I think helps too.
 
I used Kevin Bacon and yes it was brilliant on my horses hooves, the only problem was it made his shoes fall off! Our farrier just couldn't understand why he was loosing them so frequently and nor could we as I was putting the hoof dressing on every day! But when we told the farrier what we were using and showed it to him it turned out that was the problem! The hoof dressing was actually lubricating the nails which was causing his shoes to come off. Once we stopped using it his shoes stayed on!
 
The instructions say to apply it three to four times a week - not every day. That might be why the shoes fell off.

My horses hooves have never looked so good since using Kevin Bacon.
