A work colleague has contacted me about this. Colleague is a mature male so I am taking the chance it's a reliable report and publicising it.

"Last night (23rd July) four guys dressed in combat gear were found in our yard carrying out what was fairly obviously an assessment of the horses which were out in the fields. Description of men is...one man and three young lads, possibly mid teenage years. Man was also wearing a baseball cap and had a big beer belly. The lads had shaven heads. The **teen year old girl who found them was too terrified to challenge them but did get the vehicle registration M184 MPP (which the Police confirm is a bogus number) and it was a red 4x4 with ‘2.4 injection’ on it. All this happened in the Callestick area (near Perranporth) but some of these details sound similar to previous ones which have circulated on the grapevine and then referred to ‘red Land Cruiser’ and ‘Eastern European males’, so a picture may be emerging. BE WARNED – and if you see this vehicle suggest to advise the Police, it may be in the interest of us all!!

Just thought I'd add, I've been chatting again with colleague and he/his wife are quite shaken by it, we do tend to think "it won't happen to us" in our little corner of the world! It seems they and the police are taking it very seriously though and making big efforts to beef up security.

Not too far from us - and we have yet another load of 'travellers' move onto the industrial estate across the road this week. Thanks for the warning.
