I live in West Cornwall and have just checked the weather forecast for the week - apparently we will be getting 5 and 9 degrees Friday and Saturday! Well, so says the BBC ;)

Hope everyone else starts to thaw out soon!

I live in Torbay area and just checked the weather looks like we have snow from 6pm overnight followed by -8 tmrw night

But warmer weather is on its way for the weekend thank god i froze to death last night riding i couldnt feel my feet for an hour after...! Just wanted to lie in a hot bath all night, doesnt help our house is old and got stone walls so cold!!

Hope it thaws out your way soon!!

Same with me! Our house is an old cob cottage with no central heating or double glazing :D We have turned the rayburn up but we use that to dry clothes! Brrr

I can't wait until Friday I may be able to ride in the morning! :)

I know the feeling we have had the woodburner going since Friday, luckily we have a plentiful supply of wood!! We have no snow just freezing cold weather!! -8 yikes better keep burning!!

Good luck with Friday im planning to ride in the afternoon fingers crossed.

Mmm, I live east of Exeter and I think we must be the only place in the whole country with green fields still!!!!! Because we live on a bus route, and highways depot just up the road, the village road isn't too bad at all, however on the little roads its not so good.

I rode out on Sunday, and couldn't feel my fingers or toes. Himself was in bucking/prancing mode, just not helpful on an icy patch, so I've made the decision not to ride until the weather improves, but to do some groundwork with him instead. Its not sensible IMO to go out onto the road with the conditions there, with something that wants to pelt along like a lunatic rather than being his normal sensible self. I guess he's cold, poor lad, so don't blame him! I'd be the same with an arctic blast up me nether regions!

Yes, am hoping for some better weather this weekend. Will be going to the Equine fair at Westpoint on the Sunday probably so am looking forward to that.

Lol we are nr Helston and they could hold Dancing On Ice down here no problem! However, definately milder today, but still got snapped at by the terriers when I tried to prize them from the Aga.

I moved down here 2 years ago. Was promised more rain (but horses wouldn't be on the dustbowls in summer but lovely grass instead so that was fine), & milder winters where it rarely snows....... I wus lied to!!!!!! Snow each year, freezing temperatures plus the rain, what went wrong?? Sorry folks for bringing the white stuff with me...

I thought it was colder today! I'm freezing, fields been covered since Fri eve. Ditto above, just seen snow for weekend, wooohoooo however have heard there could be snow tonight-eek

Gah, I hope it does something soon - I think I wrecked my back this morning climbing a frozen-shut gate carrying 2 feed bowls, 4 flasks and a huge haynet, "helped by" 3 eager noses from 2 sides of said gate... Am now on the ibuprofen and hoping to be better after a night by the woodburner.

I thought it was a bit warmer today, but the wind chill has sent it straight back down again and the waters still frozen!

the forecasts I've seen said snow tonight, but I never believe them anyway, cornwall does it's own thing!

I was also told when I moved down here almost 6 years ago that I'd never see another frost or snow again...... I've seen thicker frosts and deeper snow than I ever did in E Sussex!

I hope it thaws out soon! the grounds so unbelievably tough!

Between Falmouth and Helston here: car said -2 at 4pm (and when I went to the yard it was windy too, so felt far colder with the windchill!

There IS more snow forecast overnight according to the Met Office...Penzance/Camborne areas, and I am supposed to be going to Camborne area in the morning.
You are right madz. Cornwall weather forecasts are rarely accurate!

ETA jenbleep, we have only the Rayburn too, which heats our only radiator, in the bathroom above it. No anthracite delivery yet this week (due on Monday) so I am down to one sack......the dogs have camped out next to the Rayburn!
