Hello everybody and welcome to this round of, "WTF does my horse have now."
I think it's fungus on the coronet band. It's humid here. We've also had some rain. I was also a bad owner and turned my horse out with flyboots on after hosing him and his legs weren't dry. So many people get away with that though.
So I discovered some sores on my horse's heels and his hooves being essentially eaten away at the coronet band. There's one hoof that seems unaffected, and another that's very mild, then 2 (one front and one hind) that seem to be the worst.
So I'm scrubbing with hibiscrub, letting him dry infront of a fan, and applying antifungal. Things seem to be staying the same and not worsening. I will call my vet on Monday though.
Has anyone seen this before?
I really don't think it's metabolic, laminitis, or nutrition related. Not rat related either. Apparently that can be a thing. Horse seems completely unphased and sound.
Edited to add: the band is pink from hibisclens.
