My horse has now after lessons with my instructor started working on the correct bend and I have been working at pushing him out esp on the left rein however he now seems to get the lead only 50% of the time. He does struggle to maintain it if we are correct Right rein is fine 100% sucess (this is his better rein. Any ideas on how to help him. I thought I had fixed this but it turned out the bend was slightly wrong so it was a false correct lead. I am thinking of using a schooling wip to encourage his outside quater to strike off.

Opinios appreciated we have our first novice at the weekend and dont want to look like a muppet that cant canter on the right leg. My instructor recons its caause i school after work and have less concentration?

inside leg on the girth outside behind the girth, I do have a tendency to tip forward (weight to the inside leg ) but I really tried to sit up today its getting better but find I ride slightly stronger in my left hand ((left handed) than my right and wonder if my hands are affecting it. Its almost like I leg yield into the transition on a circle am a lot more acurate on the lead on the straight

50 /50 on the left lead if he is tired then no But if I say "No" quite sharply he trots and trys again I might be wanting too much. He is certainly less balanced on this rein

Have you tried putting him into shoulder in before you ask for canter? Worked on my mare who wasn't getting the correct leg.
