Correct Dress for Badminton (not the tennisy sport)

Getting all excited now for badminton as my tickets came today

But it got me thinking what are the best clothes to wear as last year I saw people wearing :

Jods & Riding boots (just incase WFP is injured at the last minute and needs you to hop on )
Hot pants and a bikini top

(IN MAY !!!)
or a mini skirt and HUUUUUUUGE bug-eyed sunnies

So what are the best clothes to wear practical or does badminton even turn into a fashion show ??

lol well I tend to wear jeans and a tshirt with my trainers. I make a bit of effort to not look like a complete scruff bag, but for me comfort has to rule as I spend a lot of the day walking round the course!
 
Comfort has to be first requirement! So yes, jeans and sturdy trainers/walking boots, and layers so can respond to our ever-fickle weather, plus light waterproof jacket ....
 
why not blend in and wear joules from head to foot

personally I go for comfort and Ill be 6 months pregnant when I go camping there so I may end up wearing the tent

(sorry but I always find it hilarious when people walk round badminton in jods & boots.)

More seriously - comfort first. And warmth - it may be May but I was freezing one year and miserable with it.

I don't think there's any 'correct' dress as such?!

I'll be wearing jeans, jeans and more jeans

If we're lucky and it gets mega hot - ha ha - I'll be wearing cropped combats, but that's about as smart as I'll get!!

Layering will be key, so lots of gillets, hoodies, jumpers and waterproofs are coming with me

Jeans n comfy boots. If you're camping take lots of clothes. Wewent in a caravan one year and it was SOOOOOO cold I wore all the clothes I took with me and my Toggi coat in the sleeping bag. Take a hat too as hair gets minging!
 
Personally I will be needing my jods, as the likes of WFP, Zara Philips etc will almost certainly have seen my post about how I can now jump 2 foot, and will be so impressed they will actually ask me to ride their horses instead of them....

...or maybe not!!

I really don't know what I'm going to wear! Depends on the weather and the mud I guess!

I always wear jeans, comfy shoes, a t-shirt or long sleeved thin top (depending on weather) and usually take a gilet and/or waterproof jacket.
Also tissues and wet wipes are a must for nasty chemical toilets.
 
Comfortable shoes/boots are a must cos you'll be doing a lot of walking.

As for clothing - best to wait until nearer the time and get a weather forecast. some years we've been in shorts and vest tops and come home sunburnt. Other times we've battled the horizontal rain in full wet and cold weather gear
 
Will see what the weather forcast says nearer the day but usually jeans.

My theory is that if you haven't got the right clothes on the day you have no choice but to buy new ones there

PMSL, I asked this a few weeks ago in Soapbox as it was suggested that I might look similar to a couple of other people there if I wore Joules

All I would say is pack two outfits - depending on what the weather is when I set out, I will either wear:

Jeans, T-shirt and other layers, walking boots or wellies (depending on how much recent rain) and a jacket

OR

Shorts, T-shirt or suntop, trainers

Badminton is so unpredictable - I have been sunburned wearing suntop and shorts, and have waded through 10 feet of mud when it has been cold and rainy

Last year I was wearing my jeans with my walking boots as I walked most of the x country course, but had my wellies in the car just in case!!!!! Luckily it turned out to be a really good day but loads pulled out because of the going.
 
I think that everyone is missing the most important piece of clothing that you must be wearing to be with the "in" crowd - dubarry boots of course! Me and my friends always play the counting the dubarry boots game over the weekend - although within a couple of hours there are usually so many that we lose count!!
 
I'm mostly taking jeans, shirts and wooly jumpers, a waterproof hat, long boots and a big jacket!

But then i remember that it's England not Scotland!! woo hoo!!

so I will also optimistically take some vest tops and some casual skirts or shorts.

Taking LOTS of warm clothes and arctic sleeping bag for camping too xx
 
I would go for Jeans and walking boots with lots of thin layers you can remove. If you take a waterproof coat use one with a large zippable pocket so it can hold your purse and Credit Card. But make your friend hold your coat and wander off so you cant spend too much money.

If you are watching dressage it gets very cold in the stands so a pair of thin gloves are a must plus some of my mums home made ginger cake to go with your morning flask of coffee.

A coloured neck scarf can help if your friend keeps getting lost in the crowd of coats thst all look the same(you know who you are !)

Alternatively you could go for a crop top, white stretch pedal pushers flip-flops and loud sunglasses and look like a complete muppet.

My first Badminton was 1984 and I have been every year since except the year it was cancelled when I cried a lot.

I still have my Badminton Sweatshirt from 1984 and it still fits if Breathe in and say no to Mr Chocolate!
 
QR you beat me to it! Dubarrys, mini skirt/belt, boggle eyed glasses and hair straightened within an inch of it's life was de rigueur at Burghley last year.
 
Shoes: Walking boots/trainers/wellies.
Raincoat: Either wear large rain coat, or carry small pack away one, even if not raining. Also good for sitting on damp ground
Dark coloured jeans/trousers/shorts: Hide Pimms stains, and mud/grass stains
Layers from strappy top to several fleeces+gilet

If you're as pale as me, lots of sun tan lotion (have got sunburn at soggy point to points in March before now!)

I personally wouldn't wear shorts, but then I don't want to scare the horses!
 
I too have faced almost every weather at Badminton. One year the lorry on the drive home was like a furnace our sunburn was radiating so much heat. The next year we nearly drowned.
Jeans and comfy shoes are a must then a selections of tops for all weathers I think
 
Personally I will be wearing jods, trainers & SPURS!!!??? As I saw some fashion icon wearing the other year, failing that a mini skirt & stilletos to walk around the course in, also spotted in the past.

Once I had to go in my jodhpurs and boots for the SJ, had just been riding and didn't have time to get changed, god I was so embarassed haha
