Is there much difference between these two products, I thought they were the same but seemingly they are not. Has anyone used either and which is better. I'm looking for a strong joint supplement for my 6 Y old who has issues with his fetlock joints. He also had a few other problems so basically need something to help all his muscles and joints. He already gets massaged twice a week and I do lots of streching excersises with him and he is loaaads better according to physio. Just want the joint supplement to top him up. All suggestions welcome!!

Hi, Have used corta flex on my old boy who has bone spavins in his hocks the difference was marked he will lie down in his stable, roll in the field and even the odd gallop.

I have used cortavet after my boy had arthroscopy to his stifle joints. I wondered the same as you so emailed equine america and they said cortavet was much stronger so needed less dosing but was only available by prescription from the vet.

A 3.8l bottle cost nearly £300 but it lasted me 9 months. It must have worked at the time he needed it but I have stopped using it after 9 months and have seen no change in him after stopping using so can't honestly say yes it worked.

I used corta vex, the liquid one for my mare that had advanced ringbone and cant say I noticed any improvement in her, saying that I dont think she got any worse. When my insurance ran out I looked for alternatives and bought Feedmarks Flexamine as it was on offer. My god, my mare was a loony. The difference was amazing. I think what works for one, may not for another.
My current horse has a maintenance dosage of Cortavet powder, he doesnt need it but after having one crippled horse, I am trying to 'preserve' this one

. You can get Cortavet online for about £35 a small tub. I find if I get a bigger one it goes off before its used!

I started using CORTAFLEX March 2000 after my horse was very lame with arthritis, he had adequan injections but that didn't seem to work, I happened to be reading an old magazine as I was watching him hobling around the sand school, it flopped open on a cortaflex advert, I thought to myself thats spooky ! I rang the number and the liquid was initially recommended, which I gave for about 2 months, then went on to the powder, he was nearly sound within a WEEK, my vet said it was coinsidence, but I don't think so. He's been on it ever since and is now 30 and still going strong touch wood !

corta vet gets my vote. my old mare had it for many reasons. about twomks after she started it she started being rather jolly and bonucy something which had not happend for a while. she had injections but they did nothing for her. she had danilion on and off and stayed on cortavet she was happy that was the main thing coisidendce or not.
