I just wondered if anyone uses Cortaflex (or similar) and if so, which one do you use and do you think it works? I'm just trying to work out whether to start my boy on it so trying to get general opinions really.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks.

Olympic started getting stiff so he went straight on Cortaflex and it's done him the world of good

FMC, could I have those details please?

The ingredients from the cheaper American ebay version are slightly different to the 'english' version. Someone posted them up a while ago - if you do a search it should bring it up.

I used the 'american' one on Bloss for ages, and it did nothing. I swapped her onto Mobifor and the difference was amazing!

However i take cortaflex myself and its helped me no end, ive got mild arthritis in both my knees and the cortaflex stops me from getting stiff in the cold weather.

I use cortaflex from the vet which is meant be the strongest that is legal. It is very expensive to start with but once the loading dose is over it is slightly cheaper than coraflex. I can't judge how well it works as I am using it as a prevention.

According to vets its a waste of money until you feed it over two years... if you read the label it says "contains elements of glucosamine & chrondotin (SP!)"

Equistro is appareantly the most effective on the market as it's put through the american drugs testing systems... although aslong as you can find one which contains the whole molecules of glucosamine and chrondotin (so again) you should have much better results...

I switched from Cortaflex to Equistro and it's been much more effective in my opinion...

however it is abit like "can... worms... opened..."

no, i get it online from neutrelabs (or however you spell it!) Costs me around £30 a month, but its definately worth it. Bloss never gets filled legs anymore in her stable either.

I have a friend who sells one called Biosynov which is meant to be (and from what I can see) much better than Cortaflex. It works as a cure as well as a preventative as it also contains antioxidants and antiinflams to improve the damage already done not just prevent further. A lot of top riders use it and hvae been so impressed they've switched their whole yards onto it, Dag Albert first brought it over, then Hoys tried it on one and now use it on all as did various others.

I have seen some HUGE changes in horses that have it, an old advanced event horse I ride for a friend went from being so stiff he was almost lame in every leg to bouncing everyone off and pulling your arms out out hunting again - he also put on weight and his coat improved. The reports back have been all along similar lines. Everyone who buys it seems to rave about it.

Works out at £1 a day but if it really works, its worth it. PM for more details.
