I have recently has the vet out to my Tb Mare who has a 'strange' gait at canter after many people remarked that she looked lame. She has been given the all clear and the vet said that in canter instead of placing her feet and following the stride threw she is fine on her left leg but is dragging her right to meet. (if this makes sense).

Overall there is nothing physically wrong with her but she is not supple enough in her hind. The vet suggested more work to engage the behind and a joint supplement such as cortaflex.

She can be stiff in the morning when coming out the stable and her legs fill quickly when stabled for too long.

So my question is really which joint supplement is best?!?
I know its trial and error but i don't really want to waste time on something that doesnt work.

Any advice?

Ooh this is a tricky one as once you put them on a supplement to try and they seem fine you end up scared to take them off of it and in reality they could be improved due to a combination of supplement, exercise, weather etc. I did have my boy on MSM which he went well on but some brands really started diluting the MSM down so was difficult to find. I now have him on Superflex and again he's going we'll on it. I believe Cortaflex is good but expensive so maybe try one of the cheaper ones to start with and see how you get on. Sorry not much use really! We used to sometimes have an awkward initial few steps in walk (he's seen all the specialists who were stumped) he would be fine after 30secs of walking but recently got some sports massage for him and its really relaxed and loosened his back so he's moving so much more freely through his back. Just an idea but canter gait may be the result of tension through the back, maybe a good sports massage could help.

I use straight msm from aviform, £20 fo 10 month supply!
When I ran out really noticed her legs swelling up again, so for me it works.

Recommend a massage incase there is an underlying tightness there that needs some extra help!
