Cortaflex

I used Cortaflex HA liquid for many years successfully on an ex-eventer that retired to the hunting field. Initially, he was roughed off to grass every summer and I could see the difference in him when we brought him back up again at the end of his summer hols when he was only on Dr Green. It would take a couple of weeks of feeding to get him firing on all cylinders again.

With time (7 years) the results deteriorated and I moved him onto Cortavet - made by the same people but industrial strength. This saw him out for the next 3 years to the end of his hunting career.

For everyone who posts and says it works there will be someone who says it doesn't. Yes, it is expensive, but having found something that worked well for my horse I was loath to experiment and try other supplements to save a few pennies.

Good luck!

I think it is fantastic. I took on a 20 year old ex Master's Hunter horse and if he was on it he was as sound as a pound and far too much for me to handle, I owe my lifelong back issue to him . Without the Cortaflex he was certainly a 20 year old ex master's horse....

It's incredible stuff! I fed it to my horse who had done a lot with his old owner in his youth (eventing, hunting, pc etc every week) and his joints were terrible by the time I had him, he was very stiff and shuffled along everywhere, and he struggled to stretch his legs. Tried him on quite a few different joint supplements before cortaflex (hoping a cheaper option would work!) - first I tried the standard cortaflex (green lid) which made a slight improvement, but nothing huge. Spoke to Equine America who suggested the Cortaflex HA (yellow top), and the improvement it made was amazing. He was like a different horse on it, unrecognisable. It took a few weeks to fully kick in but after the first week he had a spring in his step, the vet couldn't believe his eyes when he saw him. I kept him on that, briefly tried going back to the green but had to go straight back to yellow as his joints were obviously too damaged for the green tub. It was well worth the money, it made him so much happer and more comfortable and it was lovely to see him running about instead of stumbling. It really is fantastic and well worth a try, i definitely recommend it!
I think I read somewhere that the green top (standard cortaflex) is to prevent joint problems, and the yellow (HA) is for existing issues x

Yes well worth the money, starryeyed is right, standard to prevent problems and ha for horses with joint issues.
I know 2 horse with different owners who couldn't walk very well and both were due to be pts, 1 is back cantering around this field and the other is back in work.

I have one who doesn't appear to benefit from it at all - but boswellia serrate does make a difference to him, along with micronised linseed.
And the other horse really does improve on cortaflex.
The only way to find out is to try!

My horse is still on the loading dose but within 5 days was already tracking up much better and freer in his movement. It's worth the money as far as i'm concerned. My boy has issues with his pelvis rather than lameness and was more stiff than lame prior to using it. He is on the green standard cortaflex and should that stop working I will try the HA.

I had a pony who did well on it, but my old horse has got more stiff over the last eight months he's been on it. I've bought something different this time. I think you need to try it to know if it's right for your horse or not.

I use Liquid Cortaflex HA on my WB and I think it has helped. If you do buy the liquid get the large 3.8l one as it is so much cheaper than buying it monthly. Currently on Viovet for £155 inc free delivery and should last 8 months so less than £20 a month.

I used to use it on my older mare and I think it made a difference, but I have to keep swapping supplements as after a while they seem to lose their effect. We're currently using Topspec 10:10 which I can definitely say has a noticeable effect, but another one that was good was vet vits equiflex (and cheaper too). Have also used Supplease Gold but that didn't really seam to work, Horse First My joints - ok but not the best - and finally Equimins joint flex which to my horror i bought for my laminitic when it is a glucose solution without thinking - 25 quid down the drain! It is supposed to be really good though.
